Today I received a professional massage for the first time. It was very nice. It wasn’t exactly a massage, actually. It was more about stretching and relieving pain or something, I don’t know. It was nice. It was an hour and it was relaxing but also fun. She was moving my arms all around and really applying lots of pressure all over. She said that I need to stretch my neck and arms more. She said they’re currently very tight. She also said I gotta do something about my stomach. She said she could feel that it’s not really loose enough in there. She said to also just stretch my arms out behind me when I’m lying in bed. It was a beautiful experience, and the woman did a wonderful job. I paid her in pesos.
Goals I Want to Achieve
Documentary/ Interview
I'd like to interview people. I'm thinking of seniors, since they seem the least intimidating for some reason.
Evaluating Your Motives
I think that interviewing nana in particular is very important. She remembers so much from her past, and she is able to make her stories sooo entertaining. She always works in some humour. She's one of the few people left that actually remembers the Great Depression and World War 2. I will feel so guilty and ashamed if she dies and those memories are lost forever. I feel like it's my duty to collect them. Not just her memories though, but the memories of other old people. They just seem so valuable and precious. I've always loved listening to people remember where they were and what they were doing when historic events took place.
I think the situation definitely demands it. I have an amazing camera that I know how to use, I have an amazing person with amazing stories, and I have the skills to get her to talk about those stories. It would be a crime if I didn't take advantage of all these things.
I think that pursuing this would be very enjoyable. One of the reasons why I wanted to interview people was so that I could just get tons of advice and perspectives from other people. It seemed like such a great way to meet and learn about people.
I haven't really thought what I'd do with all the footage, but I guess I could edit it down. I'm really interested in making a documentary and so this sorta seems like it could be good practise.
Considering the Broad Personal and Social Impact of Goals
I would feel very happy about myself, because it would be like a new skill under my belt. I feel like I'd just grow as a person and become much more interesting, the more people I meet. Just learning about their lives would be so good for me. I'd like to think that people would be excited to be interviewed. I love the idea of asking people if I could interview them, sending out my interview portfolio, and then having them be super excited. I think that this would have a very very positive impact on the people around me. I think that people would love to have someone who is actually interested in hearing their stories. Nana really really lightens up when I sit and listen to her talk, I think because she can feel that I'm genuinely listening and that I don't want her to stop. I think it could be a really good skill for me to have, and I could see it being an asset in the future.
Considering the Detailed Strategies for Goal Attainment
Well I'm definitely going to do Nana's interviews on Thursdays, because that's when I see her every week. I think that I'll take a tripod to her place so I can leave one there, that way I just need to take my camera every week. From there I'll probably edit a little promo, that way I can include it in emails when I start asking other people if I can interview them. I do want to start with older people, so I guess that I could maybe send emails to retirement homes? I guess I could ask the people who work there if that's a thing I can do. I like the idea of getting people remember historic events. Even just coming up with a simple collection of questions, that way I can even include that in the email when I contact retirement homes. Questions like, what's your first memory, what's your happiest memory, what's the biggest historical event that you lived through.
Identifying Potential Obstacles and their Solutions
I think that the most likely obstacle will be Covid related. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not able to get permission into retirement homes because of the virus. In that case I could always message seniors directly. I could do some research on maybe some older artists or business owners, or even grandparents of friends.
Monitoring Progress towards Desired Goals
I'd like to have the first interview with Nana by Thursday. I want to have made a very basic question sheet, just so that I can have those basic questions answered, and so i can ask the same question to other people. That would be a very easy way of editing together a little video. I'll know i'm progressing if I start getting people agree to do the interviews, and if I feel very relaxed, and if I'm able to make the people feel relaxed. I think that if I'm leaving the house on like a weekly basis to do an interview, than I'll feel very very satisfied. I think that something that could help is if I find a film fest kinda thing that I could apply to. That might give me a deadline, which could really help.
