I’m just outside of Queenstown with the ol’ man. The mountains are huge. The scenery is very majestic.
We did a lot of driving today. We drove for about 2 hours through the mountains. It's supposed to be a world famous drive.
I’m glad we did it. The mountains were huge. There were tons of other cars on the road. Twas so very busy. We had to drive through the inside of a mountain at one point.
The main attraction is at the end of the drive. It’s a place called Milford Sound. There’s a scenic vista of mountains and water. It looks a bit like Banff.
So we arrived but we couldn’t find a spot to park. There were so many other tourists! We wept in frustration. We drove around in circles looking for a spot. Eventually dad told me to jump out while he kept driving. I went to the pier and checked out the view. It was heavenly!
We started to drive back. We noticed that there were more parking lots a tiny ways down the road! We didn’t bother stopping, though. The whole place had way too many people. It felt too frantic. There were many more amazing views along the road anyways.
Milford Sound is fairly close to Queenstown, which is where we were going. Unfortunately there’s mountains in the way. We had to drive back the way we’d come and then go up a different road. It was a long drive.
The hill-people were getting ready for a parade. They’d been preparing for 200 years. The sun was directly over head. All of the planets were aligned.
Chuck LongCock, the mayor of Hillbilly Downs, addressed his people from the roof of a hut.
“My friends, how about some love? How about wrapping your arms ‘round one another! Let’s dance! Let’s waltz for the lord!!”
The town rejoiced. The pranced around until the early hours of the morning.
My lard is harder tonight. I found out the hard way. I was trying to sharpen my blade. It wasn’t getting any sharper.
My son suggested I use my lard. I laughed at him, as any wise man would do. He insisted. That boy doesn’t let up! He’s just like his nephew in that way.
So I did as he said. I got some lard and rubbed it on my blade. The thing shone like the North Star. What a surprise that was. I enjoy being proven wrong from time to time.
I gave my son a reward for his compassion. I invited him to sit on my lap. We enjoyed the setting sun in a state of harmony.
