The Bus Stop

Feb 28, 2022

I got up and went to work this morning. The sky was blue, the streets were clean, the streetcars were running and people were walking all around me.
I walked slowly up the sidewalk. I was sorta jerky in my movements. I was really trying to set a good impression of myself. I got up to the street. The vehicles were going so fast that they had all become a big blur of colourful twinkles.
I saw that girl over there before, I think.
Anyways, I looked slowly at my surroundings. I was gonna be late for work. I made my way over to a bus stop.
“Are you taking the bus today?” Asked a voice behind my torso. I turned slowly, all cool like.
“That’s right. Are you and I gonna have to fight for a seat?” I chuckled, revealing a charming side of myself.
“Take me very seriously for a moment! Listen- can I ask a favour of you?”
“The answer lies within yourself,” I replied.
“I’m very old and I have a hard time walking. Can you please help me when the bus comes? I just have such a hard time lifting my legs these days.”
My stomach sank. I got really down. ‘Great!’ I thought. ‘Now I gotta help the enemy!’
